Phones were ringing off the hook for chicken wings at Wing World off New Dorp Lane.

"I mean it's like crazy. We've got deliveries left and right. We've been getting deliveries for the past like week now," said cashier Amanda Zoda.

Employees say they've been preparing for this weekend for almost two weeks.

"The Super Bowl is a whole other level. It doesn't even compare," said Manager Ahmed Abdelhaq.

By far the Super Bowl weekend is their busiest day of the year.

"It is kind of like our Christmas or Valentine's Day for a florist so we're hoping to be successful," said owner Cathy Rubin.

According to the National Chicken Council annual report, the country is set to eat more than 1.33 billion chicken wings for this weekend. That's up two percent from 2016 and up 6.5 percent from 2015.

The U.S Department of Agriculture says Super Bowl is the second largest food consumption day for the country, only surpassed by Thanksgiving Day.

"We order a lot of wing extra maybe ten times the amount that we would usually order. Extra celery, dressing...we get extra dressing. We get extra workers on," said Abdelhaq.

"We had way more orders than I could even imagine. I knew that it was going to be really busy but the fact that people were ordering like a week in advance was like pretty cool," said Zoda.

For Wing World, who has two locations, this is their second year in business and the first year for their New Dorp location. They say they've learned how they can make this year even better than the last.

"It was quite difficult to keep up with the demand on Super Bowl but I think this year we've kind of studied it and tried to master how we can make it a successful one for us."

But it's clear to them that there is a growing love for America's favorite Super Bowl staple.
