A project to reclaim a piece of the North Shore waterfront moves forward.

Construction is underway to build a public plaza along Richmond Terrace between Van Name and Van Pelt Avenues in Mariners Harbor.

This is what the waterfront park will look like when the 2-point-9 million-dollar project is complete.

It'll include a recreation area, temporary art installations and youth programming.

Councilwoman Debi Rose has been pushing for the project since 2011.

She says the area has been underutilized for far too long.

"One of my goals was to provide as much access to our beautiful working waterfront and so, this is, you know, a dream come true," said Councilwoman Debi Rose.

Construction is expected to wrap up next summer.
