A driver has been arrested after a pedestrian was struck and killed on Hylan Boulevard Tuesday. The incident was caught on camera.
It happened around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Hylan Blvd. and Wiman Avenue in Great Kills.
Police say the victim, 73 year old Mary Cergua was in the crosswalk when she was hit.
In surveillance video, you can see Cergua cross the street and be hit by an SUV making a left turn on Hylan.
Police say the driver of the SUV, Deborah Pecoraro, remained on scene.
She faces charges of failure to yield and failure to exercise due caution.
This is the first deadly pedestrian accident on the Island this year after 8 fatalities were reported last year.
