The NYPD has heightened security around the city after the attacks in Paris.

The added police presence was visible at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal in St. George on Saturday.

While officers are always site, NY1 spotted significantly more security than are typically seen at the terminal.

What appeared to be bomb sniffing dogs were also on hand to assist officers in checking the bags of tourists and travelers.

Most ferry goers said they were happy to see the additional security although one rider from France said the precautions may not be enough.

"The dog is a very, very good thing, but it is not enough to stop a man who wants to kill himself just for what he thinks is good," said the tourist from France.

"Anything that is a good security measure is always important so yeah I think its good idea,” argued a tourist from England.

The NYPD says that there's currently no known threat to New York City, but asks that if people see something, say something.

They say you should tell a police officer if you have a concern or call 888-NYC-SAFE.

If it’s an emergency, dial 911.
