The long-awaited National Lighthouse Museum is now open.
The museum has been in the works for almost 20 years.
Visitors now have the chance to see nearly 200 miniature lighthouse models from across the globe.
They'll also be able to learn about the history of lighthouses in the borough.
"When you walk down today, you look at these old buildings, they look abandoned that's history there. We're excited to tell a piece of that history," said Celestina Cuadrado, curator of the National Lighthouse Museum.
"I think it's important that we realize that our maritime heritage is very important. And anyone who comes in here and sees that history that made New York City what it is today, can't help but recognize the importance lighthouses played in that," said Joe Ahlstrom, Vice President of the Board of Trustees.
The Museum is open from Tuesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
