The 2026 World Cup final at MetLife Stadium is going to be "epic" for both New York and New Jersey, Sarah Kopit, editor-in-chief of the travel site Skift, said Monday.

FIFA on Sunday selected the New Jersey stadium to serve as the host venue for the 2026 World Cup Final. The United States, Mexico and Canada are jointly hosting the World Cup, meaning each country’s team will automatically qualify for the games.

"This is eight games total we've got people coming in from all over the world and I don't know if you know many soccer fans, but they're a whole next level. So we've got two years to get ready," Kopit said during an appearance on "Mornings On 1."

She noted that the event will significantly boost business for the city's hospitality and restaurant industries, but it will not be without its challenges.

"This is kind of a unique situation because we're not doing it in New York. We're doing it in New Jersey, right, so it's a transportation story," she said. "How are we going to get all of those fans from New York to New Jersey and back and really make this the epic event that everybody wants to see?"

She said it's no secret New Jersey Transit has had issues in the past, especially during events at MetLife Stadium, but stressed that the transportation agency "has a lot of time to prepare."
