Norwegian Airlines has been approved to fly transatlantic flights out of Stewart International Airport.

That plan first came to light back in December, but was held up over final approval from the FAA. Now, Norwegian says that approval has been granted.

The company is set to announce details of the service at a news conference scheduled for Thursday.

Norwegian has said it wants to run flights from Stewart to destinations in Ireland, including Cork, Shannon and Dublin, with ticket prices as low as $69.

Stewart has been profitable as a cargo hub for years, but it's struggled to attract passenger traffic.
