LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Shipping giant, DHL Express, is suspending global business-to-consumer shipments worth over $800.
The company said the stoppage is because of new U.S. customs rules requiring formal entry processing on all shipments over $800. The minimum had been $2,500 until April 5. It says the change has caused a surge in formal customs clearances.
DHL said business-to-business shipments wouldn’t be suspended but could face delays. Shipments under $800 to either businesses or consumer aren’t affected.
The change takes effect Monday, April 21 and DHL said the suspension is a temporary measure.
The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is the sixth largest cargo airport in North America and, as of 2023, was the 12th largest globally. CVG is home to DHL’s Global Super Hub for the Americas, as well as Amazon and FedEx.
