CONCORD, N.C. — Avelo Airlines is pulling back on their previously offered Concord (USA) routes, after experiencing low demand, the airline said.

In late April, the Houston-based airline will discontinue five of its nonstop routes, including two that have not begun service.

Canceled routes include Nashville, Daytona Beach, Washington Dulles and Detroit. Other previously announced routes will still go on as planned for now, including the Long Island destination set to start May 22.

The Nashville flights started as recently as this month, others launched last fall.

A spokesperson for Avelo said the decision was made because of poor performance.

"These routes had poor performance indicators and were not booking in the normal pattern we like to see," an Avelo spokesperson told Spectrum News 1.

The low-cost carrier didn’t say whether jobs at the airport were affected because of the route adjustments. They announced 50 new jobs when opening operations at the airport last month.

Fares start at $39, according to the airline, and residents can start booking on their website now.
