Anticipation is high for businesses and fans near Lambeau Field.

Packers gameday crowds have enjoyed a hearty breakfast at the Pancake Place in Green Bay for more than 40 years. Larger crowds are expected for the NFL Draft.

Manager Sami Barlament said a month out they are very thrilled to be near the event.

“It’s like being surreal almost right now. We’ve known for the past year or so. It’s like coming fast and we’re excited,” Barlament said.

To serve the hungry masses, Barlament said they’ll stay open for extra hours and draft some spare hands.

“We have extra crew coming in, family, friends. You know that we’re recruiting for the week or whatever, so that’ll be nice of them to come help out,” Barlament said.

The Pancake Place is already getting a taste of being in the national spotlight. ESPN crews filmed a segment there that will air during the NFL Draft.

“I think they were doing more of a local Green Bay piece. What’s been around here a while kind of thing. It’s just going to be an opening segment for the draft that will be featured on ESPN,” Barlament said.

The excitement for the draft was felt by fans shopping at the Packers Pro Shop at Lambeau Field on Monday. Packers fan Brandon Buchmann said he’s excited to see Green Bay take center stage.

The countdown is on with the first NFL Draft road closures are scheduled to begin this Friday and last until early May. The city of Green Bay is about to look a whole lot different for the Pancake Place and the rest of the businesses in the area.
