QUEENS, N.Y. — A 22-year-old man has been charged in a crash that killed a Lyft driver in Queens over the weekend.
Investigators say the Toyota Rav4 driven by the Lyft worker was crossing the intersection at Fresh Pond Road and Eliot Avenue in Maspeth when it was hit by a Ford Explorer driven by Erik Chimborazo of Brooklyn.
He is charged with driving drunk, vehicular manslaughter, and driving without a license, insurance, and inspection.
The Lyft driver was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A passenger in the Lyft suffered a broken leg.
