QUEENS, N.Y. — The city on Monday kicked off a 60-day warning period aimed at drivers who are caught in the new Main Street Busway in Flushing.

The new lane opened three weeks ago and is meant for buses and trucks only.

It runs along Main Street and part of Kissena Boulevard from Sanford Avenue to Northern Boulevard.

It's one of the busiest traffic corridors in all of Queens.

The busway is equipped with cameras that will issue warnings to drivers who don't belong in the lane.

When the 60-day period ends in April, drivers will be fined $50 for a first offense.

That goes up to $250 after multiple violations.
