"Grease" was the word at the Bel Aire Diner's free drive-in movie night last night. Dozens of cars filled the Astoria restaurant's parking lot to watch the 1978 flick. The diner offered Grease-themed dishes like "the ones that I want" mozzerella sticks and "Greased lightning," which was Greek food. It also sold bags of popcorn to fund future meals for first responders.
"Everybody's been affected one way or another so the fact that we're able to do this is really amazing," said Victoria Philios, event coordinator for the Bel Aire Diner.
Event organizers say they hope to hold more regular drive-in movies when the pandemic is over.
