NEW YORK - Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy International Airport will be undergoing a major expansion as part of the airport's $13 billion redevelopment project.

The renovation will also include the road way access outside of the terminal.

It's meant to accommodate the projected increased number of passengers expected to fly through JFK over the next 30 years.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey reached an agreement on the terms with Delta and JFK to redesign the network operations.

Delta Airlines will eventually move all of its operations to the finished terminal.

The $3.8 billion renovation will add more than 500,000 square feet to Terminal 4.

That includes 16 new gates as well as new shopping and concession areas.

It will also renovate arrival and departure areas, ticketing areas, security checkpoints and baggage claim.

The agreement is subject to board approval later this week.

The expansion is expected to be complete by 2023.
