QUEENS, N.Y. - If you want to enjoy the nice fall weather, you can head to Astoria Park to check out a major makeover.

After nearly a year of construction, the brand new track and soccer field is ready for action.

It had been closed for months as the $30 million upgrades were made.

Now that they've reopened the goal is to draw folks not only from the immediate neighborhood, but surrounding areas as well.

"We heard from all of the kids who wanted to play here, hundreds of other community members and we realized we really needed to make a space that works for everyone," said NYC Parks Senior Program Manager of Design and Construction Lindsay Quartini.

Also included in the revamp is better drainage and gardens to soak up rainwater and stop runoff into the East River.
