A Queens bar will begin selling its own eco-friendly craft brew.
Evil Twin Brewing NYC is teaming up with NoMad Bar, and Rethink Food NYC, a nonprofit that's all about keeping good food out of landfills and putting them to better use.
Together, they created an exclusive beer that will be sold at the NoMad Bar.
The Sour Pale Ale is made from spent grain, mixed with a citrus flavor from the NoMad Bar's unused limes and oranges, all items that otherwise would have ended up in a landfill.
“It’s definitely something I'm considering doing more because why are we throwing something out that we can actually use to make more products out of you know," said Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergso, Founder of Evil Twin Brewing NYC.
“I think it's important for people to really start thinking about how we can be creativity utilizing excess- that not everything has to go to waste that there's usually more that you can do,” said Sarah Munger, Director of Operations, Rethink Food NYC.
Proceeds from the will go towards Rethink Food NYC. It's available at the NoMad Bar starting this weekend.
