A local library is suddenly shut down over safety concerns. Library officials tell NY1 the Rosedale branch of the Queens Library has been temporarily shut down.

Personnel say the building will be closed for at least two weeks. The move comes after National Grid found small gas leaks throughout the facility.

Repairs are currently underway to replace the library's pipes.

COO of the Queens Library Lewis Finkelman says "it's not uncommon to have very old piping in buildings and unless there's a problem you don't typically replace the piping."

The library has no date set yet for when it will reopen.
