The family behind a popular Butcher shop is calling it quits next month.

D'Alessandro's Meat Market has been a staple in the Auburndale community for more than 60 years.

It's steaks and sausage have always been popular, especially during the holidays.

Antonio D'Alessandro opened up the business in 1957 along with his two sons. Another would eventually join in too.

They eventually expanded into two neighboring storefronts in the 70's.

But now that two of the brothers and their father have passed away, the family has decided to wind down.

"It's, uh, bittersweet. It's the end of the era but it's actually time. It's time for a breath of fresh air to be breathed into the place," said Store Manager Jim Tomasella.

D'Alessandro's Meat Market will close on March 17th. The space will be taken over by Marino's Supermarket, which plans to renovate and re-open in June, with even more grocery items and the same meat products.
