A once empty beachside bathhouse is attracting waves of beachgoers.
The 1930s art deco bathhouse at Jacob Riis Park is now being used as part of the Riis Park Beach Bazaar. The outdoor courtyard and indoor beach pavilion offers weekend events, food vendors, a video arcade and even camping. There is also beach volleyball, table tennis and an outdoor beer garden.
"It's been empty and vacant my whole entire life, I grew up here, and it is so nice to see the building actually come back to life," said Katie O'Neill, the bar manager of Bathhouse Beach Pavilion.
There are plans for a phase two for the bathhouse that will be announced in the fall.
