After five years of construction, the wait is over.

Queens residents now have a new place to soak in city views.

City officials cut the ribbon on the second phase of the Hunter's Point South Park makeover Wednesday in Long Island City.

The five and a half acre expansion has a new 30-foot overlook with a view of Manhattan, picnic areas and a playground.

It connects to the first phase of the park, which was completed in 2013.

Queens residents now have 11 continuous acres of waterfront to enjoy.

"We have so many projects going on, so much overgrowth, so many buildings that it's a little bit scary. To have some peace and quiet in our green space is really vital for the health of any community," said Rob Basch, President of the Hunter's Point Parks Conservancy

The Park will eventually serve tenants in four new buildings being constructed across the street as part of the Mayor's affordable housing initiative.
