Some young women are learning to love themselves and boost their self-confidence too.
Empowerment group Lessons for My Daughters took its message to Grover Cleveland High Thursday. It's part of an eight-week program aiming to help pre-teen and teenage girls have more self-respect and recognize their own worth.
Classes include discussions on physical and mental health and empathy.
"I actually had problems with loving myself. And now I don't care what other people think," said Aileen Reyes, a freshman at Grover Cleveland High School.
The group's founder hosts classes at her alma mater, Grover Cleveland High School and workshops across the city.
