An investigation is underway after a hit-and-run leaves a teenage boy fighting for his life in Queens.

The NYPD says he was crossing Jamaica Avenue near 150th Street around 8 p.m. Wednesday when he was hit by a Nissan Quest Minivan that was making a right turn.

The driver then took off.

The intersection is known as a dangerous one in the neighborhood.

"It's not a surprise in this area," said one neighbor. "I don't know if you can just take notice, a lot of people aren't obeying traffic laws. That guy just ran the light as you can see."

"People should be more responsible when it comes to that," said another. "I mean it's an unfortunate incident, but it's only an accident. There's no need to leave the scene of an accident."

Police are looking at video from surveillance cameras in the area.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
