Horses are now hoofing it on new, improved grounds at the city’s only racetrack.

Aqueduct Racetrack unveiled renovations to two of its three tracks Friday, which was opening day for the season.

The outside ring was changed from clay to limestone dirt, making it more winter-friendly.

The middle ring was switched from limestone dirt to turf.

That means the racetrack can hold more turf heats, which officials say is a growing trend in thoroughbred racing.

“It lends itself to exciting finishes. It lends itself to some of the unpredictably that makes for exciting racing,” said NYRA Director of Communications Patrick McKenna.

Here’s what it looked like during renovations.

Construction started in May and finished in October.
