A Woodside store is celebrating two years of helping others.
ReStore on Northern Boulevard takes gently used furniture and appliances, then sells them at a fraction of its original price and then donates the proceeds to Habitat for Humanity NYC.
In the past two years, the store has re-sold 500 tons of goods.
"It's amazing. The people come into the store really want to learn about us and what we do and of course they love to see the great prices on the product," said Leslie Williams, the Director at ReStore of NYC.
It has generated $100,000 for Habitat for Humanity NYC.
"It generates enthusiasm, volunteers, donations, unrestricted income, that's important from a CFO perspective, back into our funding sources to build more homes," said Alex Havriliak, the CFO and EVP for Habitat for Humanity NYC
To celebrate there was a barbecue, live music performances and all items in the store on Saturday were 20% off.
ReStore is open seven days a week.
There are about 1,200 ReStore locations throughout the country.
