A Queens man critically hurt in a horrific crash on the Jackie Robinson Parkway earlier this month has died from his injuries.
Police said the crash happened just before noon on Saturday, August 12th. Fernando Ocasio, 26, of Queens Village was speeding on the westbound Jackie Robinson, when he lost control of the vehicle between the Cypress Avenue and Forest Park Drive exits. Investigators said Ocasio lost control of his BMW sedan, ran off the road, and hit a tree.
He was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he died on Wednesday.
A witness told NY1 at the time that it appeared Ocasio was racing another vehicle at the time of the crash. Police have not confirmed that account, and the investigation is ongoing.
