CHARLOTTE -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police make three arrests in the February shootout in Uptown Charlotte.
It happened during a busy time in Uptown Charlotte -- with the CIAA Tournament being played only a couple of blocks away.
This was a disturbing case for police -- more than 100 shots fired into cars, homes and buildings.
Remarkably no one was hurt, but investigators had a tough time making an arrest -- until Tuesday.
The police arrested 27-year-old Sammie Benson, 23-year-old Frederick Black and 20-year-old Antavius Gardner.
Each were charged with six counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied property and felony conspiracy.
The shootings happened Saturday, February 26 on North Caldwell Street, just a few blocks away from where the CIAA championship game was about to tip off.
Multiple cars were hit and bullet casings were found all over the place.
Investigators are not telling us about a motive, but rapper Young Dolph said he was there and actually wrote three songs that were recently released on it, including “100 Shots,” “In Charlotte,” and “Bulletproof.”
Sammie Benson is a rapper himself from Tennessee, who performs under the pseudonym, Blac Youngsta.
There appears to be a connection between him and Young Dolph.
