As the saying goes, everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day and that was the case at the Selfhelp Austin Street Senior Center in Forest Hills Friday.
Nearly 200 seniors visited the center for its annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
Corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes were on the menu for lunch and Irish music entertained the members all afternoon.
“The singer is good... and she’s good, the woman too. And the food was good,” said
Bennett Gordon, a member of the Selfhelp Senior Center.
“We had a delicious meal today. Kosher, kosher corned beef! And then we had cake,” said Sylvia Cohen, also a member of the Selfhelp Senior Center.
The Austin Street location was just one of five Selfhelp centers in the borough celebrating the holiday.
