ROLESVILLE, N.C. -- The North Carolina Democratic Party has a new chairman.
Wayne Goodwin, the former North Carolina Insurance Commissioner, was elected Saturday at a meeting of the party's State Executive Committee in Rolesville.
Goodwin received 92 percent of the votes among the four candidates for the position.
After his victory, Goodwin talked about what he hopes to accomplish as party chairman.
"There's a lot of folks that are animated and activated and inspired to voice their concerns and to help turn things around and I think we should channel that energy for good and move our state forward in a positive direction,” said Goodwin.
Goodwin received the endorsement of Gov. Roy Cooper and other top state Democrats.
