WASHINGTON -- George Orwell's "1984" has regained popularity, overnight it seems.

The novel tells the story of an oppressive government that controls minds through a so-called "ministry of truth". The book rose to the top of Amazon's best seller list Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

It's not exactly clear why, but other books with similar themes are also high in demand right now.

Some are attributing it to President Trump's inauguration and the term "alternative facts", which was first mentioned by his senior advisor, Kellyanne Conway.

Commentators are calling the term "Orwellian."
