Flushing seniors are now enjoying a newly renovated kitchen and dining room at their self-help center.
Community leaders officially unveiled the makeover at the Benjamin Rosenthal Prince Street Senior Center on Thursday.
"It's beautiful. Everyone can see that and also with all the new equipment in our kitchen, that greatly reduce the risks and the workload," said Jane Qiu, the program director at the Benjamin Rosenthal-Prince Street Senior Center.
The kitchen, which was previously two smaller kosher kitchen, now has a walk-in freezer and fridge.
There are also built-in woks and 24 more seats available in the dining room.
Renovations took about 15 months to complete and cost a little more than a $1 million, funded by federal grants.
"We are so happy. So grateful. We really enjoy it," said Sue Chen, a volunteer at the Benjamin Rosenthal-Prince Street Senior Center.
Lunch is served at the senior center Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
