A satellite police precinct in eastern Queens will now be open 24 hours a day.

NYPD and elected officials made the announcement Friday at the 105th Precinct satellite office in Rosedale. Since it opened in 2007, the satellite location had been closing each night from midnight to 7:00am.

In addition to the new 24/7 hours, officials say the location will receive 18 new officers and 2 more sergeants.

“I feel it's important that we staff this satellite 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” said NYPD Chief of Department James O’Neill. “It gives the community an additional resource. If you close the doors at midnight and open at 7 or 8 in the morning, you live across the street and that's not a good feeling.”

“I am still calling for a complete 116 Precinct for this particular area, and I am confident that we are moving in the right direction to accomplish that,” said Council Member Donovan Richards.

The 105 is one of the largest precincts in the city, with officers covering 12.7 square miles of territory.
