An organization is helping to make the borough cleaner and greener by recycling Styrofoam
P.S. Recycle It teamed up with borough leaders to hold a Styrofoam drop off event Saturday. Residents stopped by with cups, containers , and packaging that would otherwise be thrown away. Organizers say the Styrofoam collected at the event will be turned into rulers, and pens. Currently, the Sanitation Department does not accept Styrofoam.
The group hopes to educate locals about the advantages of recycling Styrofoam.
"People uh don't know that it is recyclable and what's great about the product is that the polystyrene that is used in food containers is recyclable." said Scott Lusk from PS, Recycle It
"The stuff that it can recycle and turn into is something as simple as this. It's a ruler, so that's why we're here today and this is about three coffee cups." said Leslie Patterson from Councilman Ruben Wills Office
The organization will continue to hold drop off events in the future.
