Some local elected officials are willing to bet big on the Mets.

Legislators from the State Senate announced on Tuesday a friendly wager with Illinois State Senators over the outcome of the National League Championship Series.  Politicians on both sides agreed that the losing side would send the winner a pie of their city's famous pizza and congratulate the winning team on the floor of the Senate.

Borough leaders said Tuesday they were looking forward to eating some deep dish Chicago pizza when the Mets beat the Cubs and advance to the World Series.

“We're going to hold our breath and enjoy some of that deep dish casserole, not pizza, some of the deep dish casserole they serve in Chicago,” said State Senator Michael Gianaris of Queens.

“We know that Chicago is called the second city, so we're expecting them to live up to their name,” added Senator Jose Peralta.

“We will be ready to console them four days from now when the Mets are headed to the World Series,” said Senator Leroy Comrie.

The loser will also have to clean a neighborhood park in the name of the winning team.
