The new documentary “The Encampments” is about last year’s student protests against the war in Gaza at Columbia University.
The film debuted in Manhattan Thursday night and is narrated by Mahmoud Khalil, who remains detained in Louisiana as the Trump administration attempts to deport him.
The documentary follows four pro-Palestinian students at the Columbia encampment and their months-long protests. The directors of the film embedded with students after most reporters were shut out of the campus.
The Angelika Film Center is hosting dozens of screenings over the next week.
Kei Pritsker, the co-director of the documentary, and Munir Atalla, the producer of the documentary, joined NY1’s Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Friday to discuss more.
