Queens state Sen. Jessica Ramos, a candidate in the Democratic primary for mayor, said the deputy mayors who are stepping down are doing it “based on ethics.”

“It’s clear that they lost trust in their boss, in the CEO of the city, to continue. And I think for them, much like the prosecutors who resigned after the DOJ suggested that the federal corruption charges be dropped, lots of people are resigning based on ethics,” she told NY1’s Ayana Harry on “Inside City Hall.” “And God bless them, because we certainly need leadership with ethics. That’s not what we’re seeing at City Hall or at the White House right now.”

On Monday, four deputy mayors submitted their resignation, following the Justice Department dismissing Mayor Eric Adams’ federal corruption case.

Ramos continued to urge Gov. Kathy Hochul to remove Adams.

“I really want to urge Gov. Hochul to remove him so that the business of New Yorkers can continue and not suffer, because come March, when these deputy mayors really aren’t there anymore, we don’t know who it is that Eric Adams is going to put in place,” she said.

Ramos is among a significant number of candidates looking to unseat Adams in the Democratic primary, which is four months away.
