Last week, in an act of protest against Gov. Kathy Hochul, three leading environmental advocates resigned from a state panel known as the Climate Justice Working Group.
In the letter, the three departing members said they could no longer serve in good conscience, criticizing Hochul’s “backpedaling and lack of vision, commitment, and focus” on environmental initiatives.
This comes after the governor delayed one of her signature climate plans, the so-called cap and invest program, which would put a price on carbon emissions to help the state reach its climate goals.
Eddie Bautista, one of the three advocates who resigned from the state panel, joined NY1 political reporter Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to discuss more.
He is the executive director of the NYC Environmental Justice Alliance.
