This week on In Focus, we take a look into a day in the life of the mayor of New York’s capital city. Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan joins JoDee Kenney to discuss a number of topics, including the Lincoln Park pool.
"The iconic Lincoln Park pool that was built in the 1920s is getting a major investment and a brand new pool," she said. "This was a one acre zero entry pool, and we are transforming it. We really wanted to capture the future for young people and give them the opportunity to have a state of the art aquatics facility that is so much more than just one big round pool. So we're going to have a zero entry halfmoon pool, there's going to be a half Olympic sized pool here for swimming laps to the swimming lessons and then a huge spray pad with a waterslide and all of the amenities that people love when they go to pools today."
"We’re hoping for an opening by July 4, 2025. It is a tight deadline and tight schedule. The entire project will not be done but we want to have the aquatic piece of this open. There's also a playground that's planned in phase two, we want to have amenities like tables and cabanas. This is going to be free. But I think it's going to be so popular," she continued.
