LOS ANGELES — Photographer Safi Alia Shabaik became her father's primary caregiver following his diagnosis with Parkinson's disease and the two decided to document their journey with an intimate series of photographs.
Partnering with the Parkinson's Foundation with a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, Shabaik presents "Personality Crash: Portraits of My Father Who Suffered from Advanced Stages of Parkinson's Disease, Dementia and Sundowners Syndrome" at the Open Mind Art Space in West LA.
The artist and special guests will host a virtual day of programming around the exhibition Feb. 25.
