A Limerick man faces several charges including attempted murder following an alleged shooting in Limerick on Saturday.

State police responded to a report of shots fired in front of a residence at 17 Prokey Drive at around 3:15 p.m., according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.

The driver of a maroon Nissan Titan pickup truck “was observed doing a burnout in his vehicle in the roadway near the residence,” Moss said.

“When the homeowner came outside, an altercation occurred,” Moss said, after which the driver “allegedly discharged a firearm.”

Troopers located the truck on Shaving Hill Road in Limington, after which the driver and a passenger allegedly fled, according to Moss.

“With the assistance of a Maine Game Warden both individuals were located and detained nearby,” Moss said. “The firearm believed to have been used in the incident — a handgun — was recovered by a Maine State Police K9 approximately 40 yards from where the vehicle was found.”

The driver, Steven Henry, 57, of Limerick, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the York County Jail, according to Moss.

Henry is charged with attempted murder, reckless conduct with a firearm and discharging a firearm near a dwelling, Moss said.

The passenger was not present at the shooting and is not being charged, according to Moss.

The investigation remains ongoing.
