A woman gave birth to a baby girl on a subway train in Manhattan Wednesday morning, according to NYC Transit President Demetrius Crichlow.

A southbound W train stopped at the 34th Street-Herald Square station at 11:32 a.m. after numerous passengers notified the conductor of a birth inside one of the cars, Crichlow said.

Multiple police officers, EMS workers and an NYC Transit official responded to the scene as the conductor held the train at the station. The mother and her newborn daughter were taken to a nearby hospital in good condition, Crichlow said.

The MTA says this is the third birth in a subway station since 2013, with the other two happening on the platform.
