Handcuffs, fake cash and a cattle prod. These are some of the items found in the apartment of a Manhattan attorney charged with more than 100 counts of sexual assault.

“The defendant told the survivors that he was untouchable. The indictment makes clear that he was wrong,” Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said during a press conference on Thursday.

Ryan Hemphill, 43, was indicted on 116 counts, including predatory sexual assault and rape.

According to the Manhattan District Attorney, he abused six different women between last October and March 1.

“Each of these six women were subjected to hours of physical and sexual violence. The defendant we allege beat them, drugged them and restrained them,” Bragg said. “He threatened with firearms, he used a shock collar and cattle prod used for livestock.”

Investigators obtained surveillance video which allegedly show Hemphill’s abuse of dozens, if not hundreds, of different women.

“We have reason to believe that there may be more survivors,” Bragg said.

Officials said Hemphill has a background in private equity and access to significant funds.

He allegedly met many of these women on sex worker websites and Craigslist, offering them large sums of money. But investigators say, in many cases, he never paid these women and sometimes gave them fake cash.

“The power imbalance in his predatory acts could not be more clear. He wielded his law degree and money as both sword and shield, coercing and silencing survivors,” Bragg said.

Authorities said Hemphill allegedly threatened the women over text so they wouldn’t report the assaults.

On Nov. 30, Hemphill allegedly texted one of his victims, “I’m leaving here in five minutes. If you’re not here I’m gonna unleash federal hell on you.” His text goes on to say, “You’re gonna wish you were dead.”

In another text from Dec. 22, Hemphill allegedly called one of his victims a prostitute and said, “Did you not notice all the police business cards on my coffee table?”

“He told them that no one would ever believe them. Clearly, he was wrong,” Bragg said.

Hemphill is due back in court on June 10.
