Police are continuing the search for two young boys, ages 11 and 13, who disappeared without a trace in Harlem after school on Friday.

NY1 spoke to the mother of one of them, who says her son was well known in their Harlem neighborhood, which makes it particularly strange that there is little known information regarding his whereabouts.

“I miss my son and I love my son,” said Dayshell Moore. “It’s been 96 hours since I touched my son. I want to see him. I want to hear his voice. I want to hear him call me ma.”

What You Need To Know

  • Police are continuing the search for two young boys, ages 11 and 13, who disappeared without a trace in Harlem after school on Friday

  • The boys are identified as 13-year-old Garrett Warren of Harlem and his friend, 11-year-old Alfa Barrie of the Bronx

  • Both boys were last seen together around 6 p.m. last Friday evening near East 145th Street and Lenox Avenue in Harlem

It has been an excruciating several days for Moore, who has not seen her son, 13-year-old Garrett Warren, since last week.

Police have been searching the land, air and water for Garrett along with his friend, 11-year-old Alfa Barrie, after both were last seen together around 6 p.m. last Friday evening near East 145th Street and Lenox Avenue in Harlem.

“We’re trying to identify everybody that was with them,” said Brian Gill, deputy chief of Detective Borough Manhattan North.

Moore said the boys were at a cookout at the time they were last seen. Police said both boys were reported missing at different times between Sunday and Monday.

Moore realized something was wrong when she heard the pair may have disappeared by the water near East 145th Street. Police responded to reports of two children in the water Friday night, but it is unclear if they were these two boys.

“We are hearing they got pushed into the water. We are hearing they fell into the water. We don’t know nothing for a guarantee,” Moore said.

Moore described Garrett as 6 feet tall and about 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a tan hoodie, a white shirt, black jeans and black and blue Jordan sneakers.

Alfa, who is from East 167th Street in the Bronx, was last seen wearing a navy sweater with a "Democracy Prep Harlem Middle School" logo, along with gray pants and gray sneakers. He is described as being 5 feet, 2 inches tall and about 100 pounds.

During a news conference Tuesday, police asked the public to come forward with any information they might have.

“We need to hear from anybody that’s seen them or know anything about their whereabouts. We want to talk to their classmates,” Gill said. “We’ve been in contact with their schools.”

Moore spent much of Tuesday outside the home she shares with Garrett on 143rd Street in Harlem while she tried desperately to discover leads on her son’s whereabouts.

“If you are a mother, the feeling of not knowing where your child is,” Moore said. “Not knowing if they’re ok. Not knowing if your son is crying out for you saying, ‘Ma, ma help me'… There is nothing that I can do right now.”

It is an agony she shares with Alfa’s family.

“We want both of them back,” Moore said. “We want Garret Warren, who is 13, and we want Alfa Barrie that’s 11. We want both of these boys back.”

NYPD officials are asking anyone with information about the young boys to call their Crime Stoppers Hotline or submit tips on the Crime Stoppers website.
