GREEN BAY, Wis. — As many arrive in Green Bay ahead of the NFL Draft, the League is putting on experiences for everyone to enjoy.
Wednesday night kicked off the Taste of the Draft, held at Schreiber Foods in Green Bay. The event highlighted 20 iconic supper clubs from Wisconsin to give guests a taste of what Wisconsin is all about.
“All of these people coming together for such a fantastic fundraising opportunity for stopping childhood hunger is actually amazing..” Krabbe’s Supper Club owner Jeannine Rasmussen said. “We are having the time of our life. We are ecstatic that we got picked as one of the top supper clubs across Wisconsin. We could not have dreamed of something like this.”
The event was not only just about the delicious food but also for a good cause. All proceeds from the event went to GenYouth, a Wisconsin based nonprofit that helps combat student hunger across the state.
“We are super excited for the NFL, for the Green Bay Packer organization, for the community of Green Bay, for the state of Wisconsin because it is going to serve so many students across Wisconsin,” Schreiber Foods President and CEO Ron Dunford said. “We are super excited.”
GenYouth CEO AnnMarie Krautheim said the event was a success. She said they were able to hit their goal of raising enough money to impact 90 schools across Wisconsin. This will allow them to provide school nutrition grants, grab-and-go school meal carts and milk coolers to increase access to healthy school meals.
Krautheim said before the event even started, they hit their fundraising goal and will be able to make an impact on over 50,000 students in the state of Wisconsin.
“It’s really all about football, food and philanthropy,” she said. “All the net proceeds from today’s events will go back to schools across Wisconsin, 90 in fact. To tie in with the 90th draft. And it will be helping children to have access to healthy school meals and have more access to physical activity.”
Former NFL players and Green Bay Packers were in attendance signing autographs and chatting with fans. They said the event is a great way to make an impact on the community.
“What GenYouth is able to do at the Taste of the NFL at the Super Bowl, and now the Taste of the Draft at Green Bay here this week, to see this event that they were able to put on, the folks at Schreiber opening their doors, just making their space, our space — has been incredible,” former Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph said.
Former Green Bay Packers cornerback Tramon Williams said it feels good to give back to a community that means so much to him.
“Obviously, Green Bay has a special place in my heart,” Williams said. “I got a chance to come here, showcase my talents and be a part of the community. The fact that the community gets to experience this is everything.”
Hundreds of people attended the event to kick off NFL Draft activities in Green Bay.
