WAUWATOSA, Wis. — ART 64, Wisconsin’s largest bracket-style live art tournament, is returning to Wauwatosa for its fourth year.
Sixty-four artists are competing in the tournament; artists were selected from a pool of 400, representing 16 countries and 37 states.
The tournament features three rounds of competitions. Spectators vote on their favorite paintings. Those with the most votes continue to the next round.
“ART 64 is a one-of-a-kind experience, offering visitors not only the opportunity to watch art being created but also the chance to interact with the artists, while the competition component takes this public art experience to a whole new level,” Beth Gleesing, Discover Wauwatosa tourism specialist, said.
Artists get 60 minutes to paint their artwork in the first round, 75 minutes in the second round and 90 minutes in the final round. The winning artist receives a grand prize of $20,000, and their winning artwork will be displayed at the Wauwatosa Town Hall.
Last year, more than 11,000 people attended the tournament.
The competition is free to attend. The tournament spans two days, running on June 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. and June 7 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
There will also be an artist market on June 7 during the tournament, with artwork available for purchase.
