This is William Copps’ first time living in New York during the General Assembly.

So, he had to stop by on his run to see what all the fuss was about.

“I chose to come over because I like seeing the action,” Copps said. “It’s exciting to me, but I can tell it isn’t to everyone else.”

Christina Kaiser and her son Noah must go through a police checkpoint to get home.

“It has been pretty awful, but at the same time, pretty exciting. It’s nice to see the city very lively, but it is exhausting, especially with a stroller and people not getting out of the way,” Kaiser said.

It’s Kaiser’s 10th year making her way through the congestion of the General Assembly.

She said the worst part is the barricades.

Beyond the nuisances to New Yorkers, world leaders plan to layout the vision for years to come in what’s called the “Pact for the Future.”

Dignitaries are set to tackle topics including climate change and artificial intelligence.

“Everything we say and hear becomes meaningless if we don’t shift where we place emphasis on how we measure value,” Lubna Dajani said.

Dajani said she’s attending sessions at the summit where leaders will also hold discussions about dialogue and negotiations to end wars in the Middle East, Ukraine and Sudan.

“I’m hoping we can get to a point where we start actioning the discussion,” Dajani said. “Where we’re speaking about what we have accomplished already and the lives we’ve impacted rather than just creating more noise.”

President Joe Biden is scheduled to arrive in the city Monday night.
