Black Friday shoppers were in for some good deals and good people-watching at Macy’s in Herald Square Friday morning.
Travelers came from all over the world to check out the iconic department store and snag some bargains.

Amanda and Nadine Zeller had bags full of clothes, shoes and cookware.
“This is only my second time ever in Macy’s, and when you’re in New York and it’s Black Friday, you just gotta go to Macy’s. You’ve got to,” Amanda said.
Amanda is from Michigan, and Nadine is from upstate. For them and many others, it wasn’t just the bargains — it was the atmosphere, the holiday decor and the cheer.
“When you walk in the door and all the employees were lined up to clap for you and greet you, that was awesome,” Nadine said.
“Every store needs to do that,” Amanda said.“Experience of a lifetime,” Nadine added.
Emily Sanders was closer to home. She came into the city from Long Island to get some holiday shopping done.
“The deals are really good, everything 50% off basically everywhere, so it’s nice to see that type of deal,” she said.
That included shirts referencing the movie '“Elf” — which just so features NY1 in a prominent plot point.
“This is probably the favorite thing I got so far. This is everybody’s favorite movie, I feel like. And we reference it a lot around this time, so me and my family got matching shirts,” she said.
Marie and Danny Philpot came from London to find bargains and items they can’t get back home.
“Now I’ve got stuff that I can go back with and people will go ‘Where’d you get that, Marie?’ And I’ll go, ‘You’ll have to go to New York,’” he said.
