NEW YORK — Police say a suspect has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a shoving incident inside a Manhattan subway station that seriously injured a woman Monday morning.
It happened just after 8 a.m. on the northbound platform of the 1/2/3 lines at Times Square–42nd Street.
Surveillance video captured the suspect, identified as Anthonia Egegbara, 29, getting up from the bench and violently pushing a 42-year-old woman standing on the right.
The victim was hit by the train and suffered serious injuries to her face and legs.
She was transported in stable condition to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue.
Police say Egegbara, a resident of Queens, has seven prior arrests, including three this year for assault, robbery and hopping the turnstiles.
