The MTA announced the installation of new elevators at the Chambers Street "J" and "Z" subway station has been completed on time and on budget.
Customers can gain access to the Chambers Street mezzanine from the street level elevator in the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall subway station.
Ramps leading to the "J" and "Z" elevators have also been added.
Platforms were modified to reduce gaps between trains and edges.
There is also a new pedestrian bridge across the "J" and "Z" tracks to provide more seamless access.
The turnstiles were reconfigured to be more wheelchair-friendly in height and width.
The 105-year-old station will also feature brighter LED energy efficient lights.
