On Manhattan's Upper East side hundreds of residents joined children to show them that they are not alone in their fight against cancer.

The Ronald McDonald House hosted its annual Block Party Saturday to honor Childhood Cancer Awareness month. The family fun event included face painting, arts and crafts and temporary tattoos. It’s an event that allows kids to be themselves and have some fun.   

Ruth Browne, CEO of Ronald McDonald House, New York says “this is an opportunity for kids to be kids first. So many of our kids are really struggling with their treatments and they can come out here and enjoy and be with other kids and enjoy all the festivities.”

The house on East 73rd street provides temporary housing for 95 pediatric cancer patients and their families.
