If your mouth is watering, there's a reason, that's zeppole, deep fried dough balls, made by Danny Fratta of Danny on the Corner. The corner being Mulberry and Grand Streets in Little Italy.

Danny grew up here; his family has run a stand here for a long time.

"You guys have been doing the feast since your great-grandmother? Yes, I'm the fourth generation to be on this corner. No one else in the feast has been here in this spot than my family," said Danny Fratta, owner of Danny on the Corner Zeppole.

The Feast of San Gennaro is back in Little Italy, it's 93rd Year, a celebration of the patron saint of Naples, brought to America and this neighborhood by Italian immigrants. It grew from a much smaller celebration at the first feast here in 1926.

“It started as a little block party honoring San Gennaro and now we are eleven blocks long, eleven days, and it’s the largest Italian feast in the country,” said John Fratta, VP of Figli Di San Gennaro.

The feast features rides and games, religious processions, and of course, there's food available.

"That was almost a horrible accident. Me dropping a cannoli is not good," Roger admitted.

Danny Fratta's Uncle, known in the neighborhood as Vinny Peanuts, sells traditional Italian nougat candies.

"We sell a lot of Torrone. People know me, they come here every year to see me," said Cireli Sabatino of Vinny Peanuts Torrone Stand.

You can sit down and eat too, John Diaz married a lifelong Little Italy resident and wound up managing the family eatery La Mela on Mulberry which gets even busier during the feast.

"People love it, people show up every year, the crowds show up every year, and it's just a wonderful opportunity, and it shows no signs of slowing down," said John Diaz, Manager of La Mela.

These guys who meet on the first day of the feast every year, agree.

"The food, everything, what's not to like, the antipasta, the super di sad, all the stuff that's good!" said one of the men.

The feast runs through September 22nd. To find out more about all of the events including the grand procession with Grand Marshal TV star Steve Schirippa, head to san gennaro nyc dot org.
